Running on Endless Roads

For this photo shoot of a runner on a long winding road, a non-photographic part of equipment is of major importance for a successful shooting on location.

It’s not a refrigerator – although that helps a lot! – it’s a walkie-talkie. Without a set of walkie-talkies it’s virtually impossibe to coordinate the shooting because of the distance between photographer and runner. It helps a lot for communication if you have to repeat certain shots, and for instructions about exact positions and movements.

Walkie-talkies are useful for other kind of outdoor sports photography as well, for example biking, skiing and snowboarding, or hiking.

The shot above is from Fuerteventura. You can find the larger version of this photo in the outdoor sports section of my portfolio.

Recently, the outdoor sports and lifestyle portfolio «Move» has been featured in Netdiver, a design and digital culture magazine. There’s a great photography section well worth a visit.
