iPhone Photography
The iPhone camera might not be the most sophisticated gadget. However, sometimes it’s liberating not to have to many options. The simple things are always good in life… Shooting with a toy camera is pure fun. Many of the images in my iPhone section on my website have been shot on the road, in trains [...]
Lower League Football
Here is another photo of my new personal project on lower leagure football. I’m shooting it on black and white film mostly. I think it fits the subject. Using film also forces me to work slower – good for a long-term project. Besides, I love Tri-X… Later in the week, things will be faster and [...]
New Personal Project: Lower League Football
I have started to work on a new personal project some weeks ago. I’ll try to go for the mood of lower league football. The subject won’t be the players in the first line, but the stuff going on around the field, the crowd, people, the field itself. Nothing spectacular. The project’s still evolving and [...]
A Week’s Links
Another week’s links: Christopher Bangert is a German photojournalist now living in Zurich. In 2003, he traveled with his Land Rover from Buenos Aires to New York, and in 2007 from Germany to South Africa. In his News section, he describes his time in Gaza. Rachel Papo‘s portraits of female Israeli soldiers. Willy Ronis, friend [...]
Running
Here’s something from my core field of photography: sports! An athlete running in nature with a dramatic evening sky with clouds. More runners in my portfolio…
Video Version of Cairo Series
Yes, it’s perseveration. I finally edited the HD video version of my Cairo series. It’s based on still photography and audiorecording; editing was done in Final Cut. Watch the large video version in my portfolio. And in case you missed it, the text & photo version of the Cairo series also appears on the blog.
A Week’s Links
Here are this week’s discoveries. I’ll summarize these under the new category A Week’s Links. Most of them already appeared in my Twitter postings. Tony Fouhse, Canada. Wow. Especially his personal projects. And his blog. Photographer Zalmai receives Visa d’Or Feature Award for his Afghan work – Promises and Lies Photojournalist Teru Kuwayama uses a [...]
36 Seconds On The Parking Lot
I had this idea for some time: make 12 images (a roll of 120 film) in 12 minutes, take one every minute. It turned out that I’m a lot faster… The result is 36 Seconds On The Parking Lot.
Developing Film
For those interested in film… There’s an iPhone application listing hundreds of film/developer combinations: Dev Chart. It leads you through the process with a timer and accoustic signaling. The Massive Dev Chart is also available on the net. Sure there are also more modern cominations than my favourite Kodak Tri-X developed in Agfa Rodinal or [...]
More iPhone: A Mobile Shot
Double exposure using two iPhone photos, done in-phone. The photo with the sunglasses was taken in Zurich at the airport in one of the chic expensive boutiques. The other photo is from Barcelona’s old town. So it’s really a mobile shot… and fits into my iPhone series.
